Vietnamese Language Training for international students at Hung Vuong University

       In the 2023-2024 academic year, Hung Vuong University received and provided Vietnamese language and specialized training to over 100 international students.

     For most international students at the university, the most significant barrier is language and adapting to a new living environment. To address this issue, the university has arranged for them to stay in dormitories with Vietnamese students to facilitate communication and learning the new language.

     The Vietnamese language training program is implemented following the Ministry of Education and Training regulations, as specified in Circular No. 17/2015/TT-BGDĐT, dated September 1, 2015, regarding the issuance of the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework (6 levels) for foreigners. In addition to the specialized Vietnamese language training program aimed at enhancing Vietnamese communication skills, the university has organized various study and practical experience programs for students at agencies, historical sites, and scenic spots, such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ha Long City in Quang Ninh Province, the Public Administration Center of Phu Tho Province, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Management Board of Provincial Industrial Parks, the Hung Temple Historical Site, and Hung Lo Temple. These practical activities have helped students improve their Vietnamese listening and speaking skills, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the historical values and traditional culture of Vietnam and its people, strengthening the close friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

     After the study period, initial results show that most students can use Vietnamese for everyday communication and have acquired the necessary Vietnamese language skills to serve their professional work in their respective fields. Some students have accurate pronunciation, beautiful handwriting, and good Vietnamese communication skills.
